REVO v0.32.2: Boss Rebuilds

The second half of the rebuild process is done. All enemies, from little mines to giant bosses, have been taken apart and put back together. They are now leaner and easier to maintain, plus this lays the foundation for some awesome enhancements down the line.

The boss rebuild wasn’t easy, since the new workflow created a conflict with the systems that expected the old workflow. Fortunately, I found a simple way to avoid problems, which typically occurred when boss turrets were destroyed. However, not everything panned out perfectly despite some bugs fixed.

Fixes & Fails

  • FAIL: Through a little oversight on my part, you might discover the Destroyer boss now generates stray turrets on screen.
  • FIX: On the upside, however, the scorch marks graphical bug for the Destroyer and Carrier bosses is now fixed.
  • FAIL: Unfortunately, there’s now a stray weapon fire bug where enemy blasters streak an attack across the battlefield from an invisible location.
  • FIX: But again, a positive is that Slayer super armor and the armor on lesser heavy enemies is no longer at risk to disappear magically.

So there were mixed results this round, but it’s all been a positive experience as things are pushed forward toward a more shippable game. And the great news is, I’ve already cued up fixes for the above issues that will arrive in the next update! Yay!
